To assist students in creating a standout Personal Statement tailored to their unique qualities, we will help students to develop some high-quality reflections on their academic achievements, in accordance with what top UK universities will be looking for. We will also organise the Personal Statement around 3 areas of extreme depth. Further reading and research will be set between lessons to develop these areas.
We will start by mind mapping all parts of the student's profile. This will include:

  • Reading Any written research papers
  • Competitions related to subject choice Knowledge of latest research from magazines
  • Internships or research projects Any other research done

Example Outline of the Course

Session 1-5

Developing Topics of Depth

From the subject exploration the student has done, our tutor will help refine and develop the three topics of depth so they are suitable for a personal statement. These topics will be developed through discussion, debate, and suggestions of further resources to be used out of the lesson. Students need to be able to reflect and analyse these topics and discussion is the best way.

Session 6-7

Brainstorming Ideas

Our tutor will work with students to develop the structure of their personal statement and what should go where, in order to include the most impressive things they have done. Students will look through examples of previously successful personal statements to get an idea of the style they are aiming for.

Session 8-10

Marking and Iterations

Students will work through drafts of their personal statement with our tutor adding comments and discussion areas of improvement. By the end of the sessions students will have a personal statement that will help them catch the admission tutors’ eye.

The Interview Preparation programme for Law applicants focuses on equipping students with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in their admissions interviews. The programme starts off by developing students' approach to the most common question categories that come up before moving onto mock interviews using what they have learnt so they can see how the programme progresses. Our tutor focuses on the most common question categories and helps students design their own strategies so no matter what the specifics of the question are at the interview, they have the framework to approach it.

National Admissions Test of Law (LNAT) Preparation Course

Minimum Hours: 12
LNAT course covers two main sections: Section A Students will focus on four question types Students will learn how to recognise and approach these question types logically for quick and accurate answers. The course then covers the remaining three question types: Claims and Views, Implications and Suggestions, and Uses of Language. Additionally, students will receive tips on exam techniques, time management, and handling the multiple-choice nature. Section B The course emphasises essay structure, providing students with an ideal plan to create well-structured answers for any Section B question. LNAT essay is very different to essays in school as it requires students to take a strong viewpoint and stand by their arguments. This is a skill that takes time to develop and by looking at model examples, they will be able to work towards themselves. Students will also learn about common LNAT topics, familiarising themselves with debates and arguments on these subjects and acquiring skills for independent research.
