Initial diagnosis of strengths and weaknesses
In the first session, the student undergoes a comprehensive mock interview, designed to replicate real interview conditions. This challenging exercise assesses various facets to identify strengths and weaknesses effectively.
Filling in specific knowledge about your chosen degree
During these sessions, the student is encouraged to delve into the first-year paper guides for their chosen degree, encompassing topics. For example, Architectural History/Theory (pre-1800), Architectural History/Theory (post-1800), Construction Principles, Structural Design Principles, and Environmental Design Principles for Architecture degree. This engagement equips the student with an understanding of key themes and debates within each area, enhancing their ability to respond confidently to interview questions. Additionally, students broaden their knowledge in preparation for university-level topics that align with their degree choice, while also engaging in relevant readings.
Problem-Solving Questions
Session four focuses on honing problem-solving skills. The student is presented with graphs, diagrams, and images that require interpretation.
The following skills will be trained:
- Describe diagrams accurately
- Making appropriate conclusions from pre-existing knowledge
- Making the interview into a discussion
- Listening to the hints from the interviewer to maintain flexibility Any unfamiliar content is also addressed during this session.
Personal Statement Questions
Students are equipped to respond effectively to personal statement-related questions. This session empowers them to:
- Be able to answer questions about every concept they have written about on their Personal Statement.
- Extend their knowledge further to impress admissions tutors
- Come up with high-level examples to illustrate the concepts they has talked about on their Personal statement. Applying these concepts to new and unfamiliar examples so they get used to venturing into the unknown.
Final mock and evaluation
In the concluding session, the tutor conducts a final mock interview, concentrating on the student's identified weaknesses. A comprehensive review and evaluation follow, providing constructive feedback and guidance for further improvement.
